"Rather than repeating itself in a circle, life spirals upward,  ever improving and moving toward more wholeness and goodness."

Praise for Rabbi Paul Steinberg's Books
Recovery, the 12 Steps and Jewish Spirituality
"Rabbi Steinberg has written the go-to resource for Jews in recovery, and also for those who wish to support them... The wisdom of Jewish tradition and of the 12-Steps are brought together here in wasy that deepen our understanding of both." - Louis E. Newman, Professor of Religious Studies, Carleton College; author, Repentance: The Meaning and Practice of Teshuvah

"I can't recall a book that has opened my eyes, touched my heart or awakened my soul more than Paul Steinberg's Recovery, the 12 Steps and Jewish Spirituality.  If you measure this treasure in terms of insight, honesty, courage and compassion, it matches the greatest works of the human soul.  I will be sharing this widely and returning to it again and again." - Rabbi Bradley Shavit Artson, DHL, vice president, American Jewish University; author, Passing Life's Tests: Spiritual Reflections on the Trial of Abraham, the Binding of Isaac

"Many Jews wonder if Judaism and the 12 Steps are compatible, and whether Judaism can speak to our disease at all.  [This book] puts an end to our wondering... [It belongs in the hands of every Jew in recovery, starting with you." - Rabbi Rami Shapiro, author, Recovery - The Sacred Art: The Twelve Steps as Spiritual Practice

Celebrating the Jewish Year - Winner of the National Jewish Book Award, Jewish Family Literature
"A superb addition to personal, family, school and community library Judaic Studies reference collections, Celebrating the Jewish Year is very highly recommended and informative reading that will help the reader to create a memorable holiday experience for themselves and their loved ones that will be enhanced in both meaning and spirit." –Midwest Book Review

"This is the kind of book where a reviewer says 'every family should own one.' All three volumes will make excellent contributions to the celebrations of our Jewish holidays." –Sybil Kaplan, National Jewish Post and Opinion

"Reading “Celebrating the Jewish Year” is a great way to prepare for the holidays; it would also make an excellent text for a classroom or discussion groups. Those interested in the Jewish holidays will want to add it to their collection."- Off The Shelf

"What [Steinberg] has done is quite remarkable; he addresses the needs of various readers, from Jews just beginning to experience Jewish ritual, to those who are already knowledgeable, but want to experiment with new practices and reflect on a range of Jewish texts, from classic rabbinic sources to contemporary reflections on spirituality." - Dr. Carol K. Ingall, Dr. Bernard Heller Professor of Jewish Education, The Jewish Theological Seminary

Serendipity
Serendipity is one of my favorite words.  It means "happy accidents" or "making discoveries by accident and openness."  In so many ways, this idea sums up the beauty of life and certainly what I find remarkable and awe-inspiring in my life.

In ways unexpected and unplanned, I have been blessed with great teachers and guides, as well as with a passion to teach and share. In the past, I have served wonderful communities: schools and synagogues. I have been blessed with my education and have written extensively to share what I've learned.  Today, I am blessed to serve Beit T'Shuvah, The House of Return and Redemption .   I am also, however, able to be of service to individuals and communities in three ways:
  • Rabbi/Scholar in Residence - Presenting and teaching in a community setting
  • Educational Consultation - Working with schools on matters, including staff development, curriculum innovation, and organizational excellence.
  • Spiritual Counseling - Meeting with individuals to coach, listen, and guide them through life's challenges and joys.
